Cyrn Weithaelin

Border fort once Varkars, abandoned, then New Tellare's, then abandoned again
1601

Cyrn Weithaelin nestled atop a steep and treacherous cliff. The main tower backed onto the ledge, and smaller towers connected by walls defended the approach. Outbuildings, clearly recently added, clustered inside the walls, accommodating the bulk of the population; signs of farming were visible under the snow outside the defences.

Still occupied by its' garrison under Torvir Erom, Weithaelin was easily recruited to the New Tellaran cause.

In order to improve the cavalry of the Sledgehammer, a cadre of skilled horse-soldiers and breeding stock of war-horses was negotiated from Enning and these moved in in late 1602. Promising youths were recruited, and the process of training and breeding began. The training school was dubbed Cavalry Academy of New Tellare or CANT for short.

The first Commandant of the Academy was Lashasvow Vlan, a cavalry officer seconded from Enning to help get things started. He built the training facilities up and laid the groundwork for the production of top-quality mounted warriors, but it was only after his retirement in 1628 that the results really began to become visible.

Commandant Marric was a graduate of CANT and a veteran of the Sledgehammer, serving with distinction during the Kordasa-Tarlanor war. Taking over the academy, he built on what Vlan had begun to forge CANT into the finest cavalry training facility north of the Red Dust.

When the Elf Death depopulated the regions around, the commanders of CANT abandoned the Cyrn and relocated to a fort just outside Reital. Cyrn Weithaelin remains in ruins as of 2100.
