Skufruss Lord of Dragons

Kin, once ruler of Trialt, master of reason, intelligence and divination, holder of the Sceptre of the Dragon Lords
1600

Skufruss is a relative rarity, a non-combative Kin; his passion is for information, knowledge and intelligence. A reclusive, mysterious figure, he somehow inspires few reactions other than deep respect and caution among the few who have personally met him.

He retained his hold on Trialt after the slaying, running the city firmly but fairly, and coming to an arrangement with the Wyrmslayers when they passed through. He was deposed however when the small Kordish temple re--opened by Hildraft was transformed into the Kordasa, and his subjects flocked to the Church of Kord Triumphant.

Escaping by magic, he fled to Tellare, intending to take refuge with Vane the Mace, but discovering the latter's Turning rather belatedly. After taking part in Vane's slaying and the unseating of the vampires who had siezed control of Tellare, he acquired the Sceptre of the Dragon Lords. After taking part in the slaying of Rhendal, he was the guiding intellect in the redesign of Reital.

Once his obligations to the Wyrmslayers were satisfied, he summoned the four huge dragons bound to the Sceptre and left (in some style) for Vorsand, which he conquered with ease aided by the Sceptre.

With Gozan's army now under his control, the Kin set about building his own realm, which he named Tarlanor. Repairing the fortifications of Vorsand and improving them, he constructed his own tower and began training apprentices.

In mid 1601 he launched an attack on Belamir, unleashing the Elf Hammer to cause mayhem.

This assault was in response to an insulting letter he'd received, apparently from Doronond of Belamir, demanding he distribute Varkar's treasure among the Northlands.

Convinced of the actual source (Garkaur Kulataur), by Sack and the Wyrmslayers, he attended the peace talks in Reital in the autumn of 1601 and made an uneasy truce with Doronond, agreeing among other things to withdraw the Elf Hammer from Belamir - once the Firstborn decided to release it.

Since then he consolidated and enlarged his realm of Tarlanor, until its' borders touched those of Dalghendor, the Kordasa and New Tellare. He raised the Dark Tower in Vorsand and accepted students of the arcane from all over Alair, training them in the art magic.

Perhaps to the disappointment of some, Skufruss the Dark Lord proved to have the lifespan of his late unlamented father, and remained physically unchanged as the years rolled past. His arcane abilities and stores of knowledge grew ever greater, though. Alumni of the Dark Tower were universally regarded as the best-trained workers of the arcane arts in Alair, although many also regarded them as morally tainted.

Skufruss' reign was brought to an abrupt end by the destruction of the Sceptre of the Dragon Lords, and he was obliged to flee Vorsand with his court and the faculty and students of the Dark Tower. It is virtually certain that he will play a part in the future of Alair.
