Cyrn Sharresh was located on a rock spur, jutting out from a mountain. The main keep crested the spur, with fortifications attached to the sides, but the bulk of the place was within the rock of the spur. Down at ground level on the left was a strong towered gate, leading directly into the face of the mountain. Since the death of its's commander, Cyrn Sharresh had degenerated into a den of robbers.

Taken over by a priest of Demogorgon named Zeltas, Cyrn Sharresh was becoming a significant nest of evil until the arrival of Surya, Hildraft & Sack.

The temple inside was reconsecrated to Kord by Hildraft, and a commander - Count Parsifal - and priest of Kord (Hauge) imported from Reital.

Cyrn Sharresh has become a bastion of noble virtue, home not only to a Kordic order of knights (The Brotherhood of the Mountain), but an Aderran one (Wisdom's Edge). As well as training some of the best knights in the world, Sharresh also is gathering one of the biggest libraries outside Thornal, Reital and the Dark Tower.

Depopulated by the Elf Death, Cyrn Sharresh has fallen into ruins, though it is quite possible many of the books of its library remain in place.
