The Lords of Chaos, one of the two groups of Primal pre-Gods, created a master weapon that embodied their philosophy - the black mace Ancorir. When they disapeared at the begining of Time, the Primal weapons survived them, hidden as securely as possible.
The vampires loyal to Cain made strenuous attempts to obtain the Mace, as one of the two known artifacts with sufficient power to break into the demiplane Arnora wherin Cain was imprisoned.
