Nisur

Dwarf city, smallest of the three.
-

Nisur has always been the poor relation compared to its two neighbors, partly due to only adequate deposits of gold and iron under the mountains. It is rich in coal, however, and although dwarves regard the digging of coal as one step removed from begging, coal and hot-burning coke are the foundation of what wealth Nisur has.

In early 1602, a disaster struck the city; it was selected by a powerful clan of mind flayers as the source of the sacrifices they needed for their plots. The entire population was kidnapped off-plane to a parallel prime called Heppetah where they were systematically tortured to death in order to try and call forward through time the soul of a dead Elder Brain to rebuild the ancient mind flayer empire.

This plot was foiled, and the survivors returned to Nisur. With the aid of Hildraft of Kobur, a new king and high priestess were selected, and the Nisurans set to rebuilding their lives. initially, the population was still low, and much of the outer extents of Nisur were abandoned. By 2100, numbers have risen slightly, but are still nowhere near the pre-1602 level.
